Warm figs, spicy vanilla, and crumbled Italian cookies, all drizzled with a boozy chocolate sauce—dreaminess in a bowl.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream, softened
  • 2 Tbs grated semisweet chocolate
  • 10 amaretti cookies, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup chopped and toasted whole almonds
  • 2 tsp melted butter
  • 4 tsp honey
  • 2 tsp amaretto liqueur (or 1/2 tsp almond extract)
  • 4 large fresh California figs, halved
  • Amaretto Chocolate Sauce5 Tbs sugar
  • 5 Tbs water
  • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 squares semisweet chocolate
  • 2 tsp butter
  • 2 tsp amaretto liqueur (or 1/2 tsp almond extract)

Directions

  • Pack 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream into each of four small paper cups and re-freeze.
  • In small bowl, mix grated chocolate, crumbled amaretti cookies, chopped almonds, butter, honey, and liqueur.
  • Divide mixture into 2 tablespoon portions and place on cut side of each fig half.
  • Amaretto Chocolate SauceMeanwhile, combine sugar, water, chocolate, and butter in heavy 1-quart saucepan.
  • Heat on medium, stirring until mixture boils, thickens and is smooth, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in liqueur.
  • To serve, un-mold ice cream and arrange on four individual serving plates. Arrange figs around and drizzle sauce over all. Serve warm.
