Time-consuming to make but so worth it. Pile onto hoagie rolls and top with coleslaw.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbs brown sugar
  • 3 Tbs Southern spice blend
  • 1 pork butt
  • Sauce2 15 oz cans tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbs molasses
  • 4 cloves garlic, grated
  • 3 Tbs grated onion
  • 2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 dash hot sauce, or to taste
  • 1 Tbs vinegar

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 225°F.
  • Combine spices and brown sugar in a bowl. Rub all over the pork.
  • Place the pork on a rack in a roasting pan and place in oven. Roast until the internal temperature is 195°F, which can take up to 24 hours.
  • Pork will be very tender. Remove from oven and pull with a fork. Add to a slow cooker or a large sauce pan.
  • In another bowl, combine all ingredients for the sauce. Taste, and adjust seasonings to your preference. Add sauce to pork and heat through.
