Although homoeopathic substances listed in this article are generally not known to cause serious side effects, their effectiveness has not been demonstrated by scientific research. Consumers should check labels carefully, since a homoeopathic product that is not diluted, or not diluted enough, may contain ingredients that cause allergic reactions, side effects, or interactions. It is always advisable to discuss any new treatment program with your healthcare practitioner.

For more information, see Homoeopathy FAQs, "What Is Homoeopathy?," and “Using Homoeopathy with Professional Guidance” in Homoeopathic Medicine.

Colic is often defined as crying more than three hours a day, three days a week for more than three weeks in an otherwise well-fed, healthy baby. It is sometimes difficult and distressing to find the cause of colic. Homoeopathic medicines can provide safe relief in a short period of time, without masking symptoms of a more serious condition. If symptoms of illness are present (fever, chills, diarrhoea, vomiting, oddly-coloured urine or bowel movements) or if pain appears to be unusually severe, see a doctor.
