Pre- and Post-Surgery Health
- Try an over-the-counter pain remedy
Control mild pain following surgery with over-the-counter aspirin (Genuine Bayer, Ecotrin, Bufferin), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, Nuprin), naproxen (Aleve), or paracetamol (Tylenol)
- Enjoy some ginger
Reduce post-operative nausea and vomiting by taking 1 gram of ginger powder in capsules 60 minutes before receiving general anaesthesia
- Think nutrition
Eat a high-quality, balanced diet, and use nutritional supplements to prevent malnutrition that can impair recovery from surgery
- Say good-bye to smoking
Prevent poor surgery outcomes and many other health problems by kicking the habit for good
Ask about prescription-strength pain medications, such as ibuprofen (Motrin), naproxen (Naprosyn, Anaprox), celecoxib (Celebrex), hydrocodone (Vicodin, Norco, Lortab), oxycodone (Percocet, Oxycontin), hydromorphone (Dilaudid), and methadone (Dolophine), as well as prednisone (Deltasone) and anti-biotics
