In 2014, researchers at Swinburne University studied the effects of Longvida Optimized Curcumin® in healthy older adults for its benefits in memory, mood, and fatigue.1 The results of this trial showed significant positive results and earned the 2015 NutraIngredients Research of the Year Award.
Today, the same group of researchers have published a partial replication study, further establishing Longvida® as the Cognitive Curcumin of Choice™ and supporting the positive results in cognition and mood first recognized in the groundbreaking study in 2014.
The new study, also conducted at Swinburne University, was a double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-groups "partial replication study evaluating similar effects [of improved working memory and reduced fatigue and stress reactivity in a healthy older cohort] at 4 and 12 weeks Longvida® supplementation." Eighty healthy men and women (aged 50-80 years) were randomized to receive 400mg of Longvida® daily (containing 80mg of curcumin), or a matching placebo.2

Providing the right nutrition for cognitive development and function is critical from foetal growth and all the way through life. Did you know that iodine is an essential nutrient supporting cognitive health?
Research shows that access to iodine in the diet was key to the evolution of the modern human brain as humans started to consume sources of iodine from seaweed and seafood 2.5million years ago, previously having very limited iodine intake.
This need for iodine in cognitive function remains essential today. However, 50% of Europeans have issues of iodine deficiency, and the UK has levels of up 70% deficiency in some age groups.
Seaweeds offer the only natural, vegan source of iodine. PureSea® seaweed ingredients are standardised to iodine, which allows health claims relating to iodine support to normal thyroid function and cognitive health.

During the interview, we mentioned that although there was no proof that zinc could address the fight of COVID-19, most of our customers were likely to include zinc in their formulations because of the approved EFSA claim related to the maintenance of the normal function of the immune system.

“Optimal Nutritional Status for a Well-Functioning Immune System Is an Important Factor to Protect against Viral Infections” is the title of the review published last April in the Journal Nutrients. The review highlights a wealth of clinical data, which demonstrates that vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, E, folate, zinc, iron, selenium, magnesium, copper and the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA play important and complementary roles in supporting the immune system.
