New Ingredient: Ashwagandha by Verdure Sciences®

As part of our PlantNutra® range, we are pleased to introduce ashwagandha as a high quality, signature ingredient by Verdure Sciences® (the makers of Longvida®) standardised to 1.5% total withanolides from the roots.
With various studies supporting multiple benefits, ashwagandha is also known in Ayurveda as a natural adaptogen. These studies show that Ashwagandha or Withania somnifera (WS) has long been sought after for many uses, among them being the ability to promote energy, memory, and strength, as well as provide potent antioxidant activity and offer the ability to improve the body’s defences through improving cell-mediated immunity.
Traditionally, ashwagandha was categorized as a Rasayana, or rejuvenator, for its wide-ranging health benefits and it is said to “promote a youthful state of physical and mental health and expand happiness.” The properties ascribed to Rasayanas in Ayurveda are remarkably similar to the definition of adaptogens today: a natural substance considered to help the body adapt to stress and to exert a normalizing effect upon bodily processes.
