As we become more aware of the environmental impact that our lives and diets have on the planet, we look for more natural solutions to help save it. It has become well known that microalgae are among the most sustainable sources of nutrition, so it is not surprising that microalgae products have become more and more popular with consumers.
Microalgae has attracted immense interest over the past few years, due to their substantial potential for application in fields such as lipids, antioxidants and proteins which could be beneficial for both humans and animals. But….......What makes microalgae’s future promising?
Microalgae are the basis of life and play a vital role in the ecosystem, including the food that we eat and the air that we breathe. By performing photosynthesis, microalgae made life on earth possible billions of years ago and produced approximately half of the oxygen in the atmosphere.
An ancient organism at the bottom of the food chain, microalgae contain nutrients vital to our health, nutrition, and survival and hold the keys to the longevity and survival of life on our planet. They produce nearly all of the basic nutritional elements of life, including lipids, proteins, carotenoid pigments, vitamins and minerals.
Microalgae have the ability to grow rapidly, efficiently utilize light energy, fix atmospheric CO2 and produce more food per hectare than traditional crops. It has been estimated that there are between 200k–800k different microalgae species on our planet and out of all of them just a small number are available commercially.
Microalgae are incredibly fast-growing and resilient organisms that do not require extensive arable land and time costs. They can double in size in 24 hours and produce their active ingredients in a matter of weeks. Despite the benefits of these miracle microalgae, there are water and energy costs associated with its production. And there is more to say about why this important microorganism is so important to life.
LEHVOSS Nutrition offer AstaPure® and AstaPure® Arava, a natural astaxanthin which is sourced from the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis, cultivated in a closed tubular and environmentally protected system, and extracted using Super Critical Co2 technology. This ensures a high content of active ingredients, an extremely pure product, and a consistently which has a reliable all year round production.
